This meunière-style cod is made with just butter and soy sauce — no flour needed! It's so simple, but the flavor will seriously surprise you ♪
Ingredients
2 servings- Cod fillets (unsalted)2 pieces
- Butter20g
- ★Soy sauce2 tbsp
Directions
15 min- 1
Note: Cod falls apart easily, so use a spatula to handle it with care throughout cooking.
- 2
Heat oil in a frying pan and pan-fry the cod fillets.
- 3
Once one side turns golden brown, carefully flip each fillet with a spatula and cook the other side the same way.
- 4
When both sides are nicely browned and the cod is cooked through, add 20g of butter.
- 5
Once the butter has melted, add the ★ seasonings and cook for about 1 minute, turning the fish to coat it in the sauce.
- 6
Plate the cod and spoon the sauce over the top. Garnish with daikon sprouts or sliced green onions for a beautiful finish.
Tips
Make sure to cook the first side until fully golden before flipping — this gives you a cleaner result. Since cod breaks apart easily, always use a spatula. If the fillets are thick, cover the pan with a lid to ensure the heat reaches the center. This method works well with other fish too, but if using a saltier variety, reduce the amount of soy sauce accordingly.
