Fluffy Steamed Cake (Mushipan) Arrangement

Fluffy steamed bread made right in a frying pan — so easy and yummy! Using hotcake mix means you can't go wrong, which makes me so happy♪

  • ★Egg1
  • ★Sugar20 g
  • ★Milk70 ml
  • ★Vegetable oil1 tbsp

    In a bowl, add ★1 egg, ★20 g sugar, ★70 ml milk, and ★1 tbsp vegetable oil in order, and mix well with a whisk.

    Add 150 g pancake mix and gently fold together with a rubber spatula until you have a smooth batter.

    Line a heat-safe container with paper cups and fill with the batter up to 7/10 full.

    Pour about 2 cm of water into a frying pan, bring to a boil, then place the heat-safe container inside and set the heat to medium.

    Cover the frying pan with a lid and steam for about 12 minutes. If water droplets are a concern, wrap the lid with a damp kitchen towel.

    Once steamed, turn off the heat, let cool slightly, then remove from the mold.

Tips

Since you're using pancake mix, the cakes will rise beautifully and evenly. For perfectly round steamed cakes, we recommend using cocotte or pudding cups. For lining, heat-resistant paper cups (available at 100-yen shops) are better than aluminum cups.
