Pour 300cc of water into a pot and add 4g of powdered kanten, stirring well (be sure to add the kanten while the water is cold).
- 2
Heat over medium heat and simmer for about 2 minutes after boiling, stirring constantly to fully dissolve the kanten.

Add 40g to 60g of sugar according to your preference and stir well until completely dissolved.
- 4
Remove from heat and add 200cc of milk, stirring well to combine.
- 5
Drain the juice from the 1 can of mandarin oranges and place the fruit in a container, then pour the kanten mixture over it.
- 6
Once cooled to room temperature, refrigerate until set (it can also set at room temperature). Serve when completely firm.
Tips
Always add the kanten to cold water first, and make sure to simmer well after boiling to fully dissolve it. Insufficient dissolution can cause separation once set. Sweetness becomes less noticeable when cold, so it's recommended to make it following the sugar amounts first, then adjust in subsequent batches to your preference.
