This is yamalu's meat-wrapped lettuce recipe that uses a whole head of lettuce! The ginger-flavored sauce soaks right in — it sounds absolutely delicious♪
Ingredients
2 servings- Lettuce1 head
- Pork belly200g
- Ginger1 knob
- All-purpose flourto taste
- Potato starchto taste
- ★Mentsuyu (noodle soup base)20–30cc
Directions
25 min- 1
Shred the whole head of lettuce into thick strips.
- 2
Lightly sprinkle with salt, then squeeze firmly with your hands to draw out the moisture. Once a good amount of water has been released, rinse with water and wring out well.
- 3
Prepare 200g of pork belly in long, thin strips.
- 4
Grab a handful of the squeezed lettuce and carefully wrap it with the pork belly. Don't worry if the lettuce falls apart a little.
- 5
Dust the lettuce and pork rolls with flour to taste, then pan-fry in a lightly oiled skillet until browned on all sides.
- 6
Arrange any leftover lettuce on a serving plate and place the cooked rolls on top.
- 7
Using the remaining oil in the pan, add the ★ seasoning, 1 knob of grated ginger, and potato starch dissolved in water to taste, and cook into a sauce.
- 8
Pour the sauce over everything on the plate and serve.
Tips
Don't worry if the lettuce falls apart inside the rolls while cooking. Getting a good sear on the outside enhances the flavor, and using a generous amount of ginger really brings out the aroma.
