Silky Tofu with Mushroom and Imitation Crab in Japanese Sauce

The silky tofu is topped with a creamy Japanese sauce made with mushrooms and imitation crab - so delicious! The best part? You can make the tofu easily in the microwave!

Ingredients

  • Silken tofu1 block (300g)
  • Imitation crab40g
  • Shiitake mushroom2
  • ★Dashi stock100 cc
  • ★Sake1 tsp
  • ★Mirin1 tsp
  • ★Soy sauce1 tsp
  • Potato starch1 tbsp
  • Water1 tbsp

    Cut 300g of silken tofu into bite-sized pieces, arrange on a plate, and microwave to heat through.

    Shred 40g of imitation crab and slice 2 shiitake mushrooms thinly after removing the stems.

  3. 3

    Bring the ★ seasonings to a boil in a pot, add the imitation crab and mushrooms, and bring to a simmer.

    Mix 1 tbsp potato starch with 1 tbsp water to make a slurry, add to the pot, and thicken the sauce. Remove from heat.

    Tilt the plate with the tofu and gently press with your hand to drain excess water.

    Pour the thickened Japanese sauce over the tofu and top with chopped green onion if desired. Serve.

Tips

Microwave the tofu while still on the serving plate, then tilt and drain the water by hand. This way you'll have fewer dishes to wash!
