Daikon Steak with Butter Ponzu

Super easy with just the microwave and a quick pan-sear! The butter ponzu aroma is incredible, and with bonito flakes on top, it pairs perfectly with rice!

  • Daikon radishabout 6 cm
  • Butter10 g
  • Bonito flakesto taste
  • ★Ponzu sauce1.5 tbsp

    Cut the daikon radish (about 6 cm) into 1.5 cm thick rounds. Optionally, score the surface in a crosshatch pattern with a knife.

    Cover with plastic wrap and microwave using the root vegetable setting until the daikon becomes tender. Adjust heating time based on your microwave's specifications.

    Heat 10 g of butter in a frying pan, arrange the softened daikon slices, and sear both sides until golden brown.

    Add 1.5 tbsp of ★ponzu sauce, coating the daikon while continuing to cook to bring out the aroma.

    Transfer to a serving dish and top with bonito flakes to finish.

Tips

Since this is microwaved first, it comes together easily. The butter ponzu flavor is light and refreshing, making it perfect for bento boxes as well.
