Daikon Steak with Butter Ponzu Sauce

This daikon steak pan-fried in butter and ponzu is absolutely irresistible! The katsuobushi on top takes it to the next level — light and refreshing yet rich at the same time. You won't be able to stop eating it!

  • Katsuobushi (bonito flakes)to taste

    Cut about 6 cm of daikon radish into rounds about 1.5 cm thick, then score the surface in a crosshatch pattern with a knife (this step is optional).

    Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on the root vegetable setting until tender. Adjust the cooking time depending on your microwave model.

    Melt 10 g of butter in a frying pan, then add the softened daikon and cook until both sides are nicely browned.

    Add the ★ seasonings and continue cooking, turning the daikon to coat it in the sauce and bring out the aroma.

    Plate the daikon and top with katsuobushi to taste. Serve immediately.

Tips

Using the microwave to pre-cook the daikon makes this recipe quick and easy. The butter ponzu flavor is light and refreshing, making it a great addition to a bento box as well.
